My weekly 'Dances Taught' Update .........

Revision nights this week - Suppose we must have them every now & then lol !! :-) .....  So not much to report, except what is going well ..........

The beginners are still enjoying Seduced, So Easily, Broken Stones & Tennessee Waltz Surprise - And more recently The Little Shirt & Running Out Of Beer - We had fun with Grundy Gallop & Picnic Polka this week too as 'new' classics.

In the Improver/Easy session on Tuesday Mi Rowsu, Walking In The Rain, Askin' Questions, Take It Outside & Rhymr Or Reason were all popular revision dances.

The main classes all are currently enjoying a MaggieG double bill with Something Good & Gave It All Away - A Kate one with Upside Down & Stomp & Kick - A Craig one with Wild & Kinda Busy - And a Peter & Alison one with Parachute & American Cowboy ... From our Scarborough weekend with Dee & Andrew/Sheila the Tuesday class are enjoying Dee's Open Up Your Heart & the Wednesday class Dee's Baby Baby Baby & Andrew/Sheila's Way Love Goes - All great mainstream pop dances - Stuff You Gotta Watch & Shoes Of Another Man are also popular - Really cool west coast.

The late-birds too have been enjoying a bunch of great stuff just lately including No Salvation, Get On Down, Tic Tok Drop, Stupid In Love, Sunglasses, One Day You Will - And this week Johanna's lovely smooth Faith & Desire.

Or me !! :-)

Would like to advertise a fun event in Arizona - The 2nd Annual Desert Dance Line Dance Festival - June 4th-6th - Last year in Tucson - This year in Phoenix - With Shaz, Junior & myself teaching you hot new dances from around the world of all levels as well as new ones from Shaz & Junior themselves - And a few new/exclusive hot new releases from the UK taught from myself - The event is a bit different from the 'norm' though, so I'd like to explain !! :-) ............ If you were with us in 2009 it's more of the same, just rotating to Phoenix (Then back to Tucson in 2011) ..........

The event itself is at a quality Adult Community facility 'Las Palmas Grand' (Mesa - East Phoenix) - And dancers can stay at a nearby Country Inn & Suites where a special rate has been arranged - With a shuttle service available to the venue (Or you can make your own arrangements for accommodation) - There is a rolling mix of teaches, recaps & social dancing non-stop through-out the event - Friday 1pm-9.30pm, Saturday 10am-9.30pm & Sunday 10am-4pm - With two rooms offering a full mix of all-comer dancing throughout the weekend.

As well as non-stop dancing at the event itself at Las Palmas, the idea is also to maximize the fun time !! - So each night at 9.30pm we close & then relocate to nearby venues where we can eat, drink & be merry until the early hours - And still dance some more - Optional for the party people !! :-) ............ On Friday evening we are going to a Sports Bar called Sullivan's where the resident DJ will play our requests & we can find some space to dance - On Saturday evening it will be a country bar called Filly's in the desert - It will have live music going on in the bar & we will have our own outdoor  dance floor area, with me DJing - Now that really will be 'Dancing In The Desert ..... Under the Stars ..........But still at a Bar .......... How awesome is that !!!!!!:-)

We also like to get together on the Thursday evening - Last year we went to the Cactus Moon in Tucson & then on to Nevada Smith's for a BBQ & had a great time - This year we are planning to meet up early around 4pm for some sight-seeing/Sarsaparilla/afternoon tea/snacks at Goldfield Ghost Town in Apache Junction at the foot of the Superstition Mountains - Then move on to a bar called Superstition Skies where I will DJ a social evening & we'll have a meal.

For anyone who would like to come even earlier than Thursday or Friday Janet is also organising a group trip to the Grand Canyon/Sedona on the Tuesday for two nights - And on Sunday afternoon Shaz & I will be heading off back to Tucson to party on Sunday evening if anyone would like to join us for that !! :-)

If you'd like more information contact me - Or in the States contact Co-Director Janet Wallace direct at janetjim.az@netzero.com in Phoenix (480-984-0455) who is organising the event this year - Tucson dancers can contact Co-Director Carolyn in Tucson ckpurpleleo@aol.com  who is also taking all the bookings.............

This event is for folk who like non-stop dancing or a fun party time ......... OR BOTH !!! :-)

Dance Recommendations Received :

Say Hey Love

Great mambo – Catchy track & ‘feel good’ dancing – The Beginners/Improvers loved this one – I did too big time – Even the intermediates joined in for the fun factor – Highly recommend this one – In the Crazy Foot Mambo league

Alan's Latest

A couple of Alan’s dances that are already big hits in the classes/events/workshops recently;.......

“20 Flight Rock”

24 count ‘rock & roll’ improver – great little dance gets an event/class up on their feet! (and smiling!)

“Waiting For You”

32 count improver – an unusual rhythm, Rumba beat with holds in all the right places! Great track to sing along to!!!

This was a big hit in France alongside “Preaching To The Choir” 48 count intermediate (to be published in Up Country)

“Open Your Heart”

64 count intermediate/advanced to the classic M People track of the same name (as per most of Alan’s dances the turns can be taken out for dancers who prefer not to turn)

Everybody's Here

Taught my Improvers a lovely little dance this afternoon - Everybody's Here by Gaye Teather -  32 counts  4 wall dance, no tags or restarts .... and a lovely laid-back Country song by Brad Paisley - Script is categorised as Beginner but with a 1/2 sailor turn and an unusual "arc" sequence (especially for beginners), I'd say it's more an Improver dance ... but that's just my opinion! Don't usually recommend dances but my lot LOVED this one

Moonlight Madness

This dance is done by the two Cathy's in Canada known as Double Trouble.  They even got a standing ovation when they taught it

You & I

Oli Geir & Hugrun - Check this out if you haven't already seen it, I've taught it 3 different places and its been really well received each time

Foolish Wishing

This a lovely new dance by Vikki Morris to a superb country track by Toby Keith.  I shall be teaching this again to a wider audience at the Casino on Friday.  Well recommended. Just such a cool dance with one easy restart

B.C.O. (Baby Come On)

This week we wanted something less taxing and went with Rachael McEnaney's B.C.O. (BABY COME ON) 48counts 1 restart wall 6 Music Baby Come on by Chris Anderson (last night CD single) If you like CHILL FACTOR this is one for you Racheal's written this one to very similar music, very easy teach quite a fast dance, that fits well to the music. Did not hear any negative comments at all, so always a good sign, that it went well

Cry Me Out

Tricky but excellent dance by Malene Jakobsen - Great Pixie Lott song too

Already Gone

Really good to a very catchy track.  We all really had fun and enjoyed it enormously.  Bits of the timing took a bit of getting until the steps came easier - but it was an immediate We Love It.!!!

Do The Hoedown

This is Suzanne from Line Up 4 Dance in Gothenburg Sweden. I just have to say that the Hoedown has been one of the best dances this fall. It is just a hilarious dance and you will always be guaranteed finishing with a big smile on your face

Got any !!??

Come on - Share !!! :-)

Event Report - MaggieG '10 Years on the Road'

Had a wonderful weekend celebrating '10 Years On The Road' with Maggie - And thanks so much to everyone that came to make it such a special weekend.

The highlights for me was the awesome show from Maggie's Celtica during our Irish Party Friday evening - A night with our long time friends Diamond Jack on Saturday evening - And specially for me from the DJ Booth a special one-off spot from my marra Tim Ruzgar, who came out of retirement for just one time to do his classic Sunday morning session for us - That was special & the crowd loved it - Special thanks to Tim for doing that for Maggie ------ One of many 'Maggie in tear' moments !!! :-) - Not least when Steve & Betty gave some very kind words when giving Maggie her presents - It was also great that Rob could call in on the Friday evening, long time friends of course, but it was Rob who set Maggie on the road in Liverpool back in 1999 - Also Barbara who has looked after Maggie on the road for all of those 10 busy years - Chrissie & Daniel made it too who have worked with Maggie lots for many years - And we had a lovely message from Roy Verdonk, a dear friend of Maggie who unavoidably could not be there.

A personal thanks to our very good friends Dee, Shaz, Craig, Alan & Andrew, who were all by our side before & during the weekend - We could not have done it without them - Would not have done it without them - These guys are true friends to us, not just dancing colleagues - Likewise to Maggie's regular team of helpers, especially Keeley, Gwen & Maxine, Maggie's 'right & left' arms' !! :-) ........... It's an honour & great fun to work with Maggie & long may it continue.

Maggie taught loads during the workshops, including a new Irish one on the Friday evening called Jig It Up '09 - This was a hit needless to say in a room full of MaggieG fans !! :-) .......... It's a new dance to Maggie's first ever track - To the dance Line Up & Jig which never took off - That was a cool idea !! :-) The two big hits though were her new intermediate pop ones Argentina & Just Dance Away - If you like J Ho you'll love Argentina - If you like Headphones you'll love Just Dance Away - Maggie did Got Me Breathless too which is another cool pop one, a fast Azer-Bai-Jan sort of thing by the look of it.

Andrew was a huge help to me DJ'ing, but he also taught a lovely new one called MG Cha Cha, written especially for the event - A really cool cha cha to check out - And great to see Andrew & Sheila's In Control & Time To Swing filling the floor too ........... Alan Birchall, a long time regular on the Maggie G Experience Team also taught a cool new one called Open Your Heart (M People), a fast, cool Human Dance sort of dance - And Human Dancer/No More Cloudy Days still filling the floor - Lots of his classics too of course ............. Craig had a big hit with his latest Evacuate The Dancefloor - If you enjoyed Poker Face check this out - My class loved it last week - You'll love this in Florida next weekend at Guyton's birthday bash - Have an awesome weekend - We are really disappointed we can't make it but wish our good friend Guyton all the best & are looking forward to Leeds.

In social dancing we did everything !!! Personally for me it was great to see Dee's Release Me/Hush Hush/Spotlight going so well - And even though it was a more 'mainstream' MaggieG wekend, loads up too with Shaz doing Magic/Beautiful/Thrill Chasin' - Roomba, Jesse James, Senseless Cha & Coochie Bang Bang were noticably huge too !! :-) --------- And more are joining in with Siste Kate too - Love it - Have I already mentioned that !! :-) .............. We did all the hits & all the classics - I'll not bore you with the obvious !! :-) Not least way too many MaggieG dances to mention !!! ............ PS. Just wish more would do Ease On Down - It's a great dance - Huge in the US but not here in the UK yet - Come on Brits !!! :-)

I'm off to learn Argentina & Just Dance Away to teach this week - Great dances - Also Dee's lovely new West Coast Daylight - This was planned for Sunday morning but with so much going on we ran out of time !!! - So was Shaz's latest hit Thrill Chasin' but loads doing it anyway :-) .......... All the guys on this weekend are working with Maggie at events during 2009/10 - Check them out.

Event Report - World Masters

After just getting back from the Masters In Line, Worlds 7 weekend I
thought I would let you know about the dances taught and what they
were like. I'm just going to list them in the order that they were
taught, so here goes;

MAMMA DO by ROB FOWLER. Like most the dances taught over the weekend
this was not a brand spanking new one, however I hadn't got round to
learning this one yet, so was pleased to get the chance to do so. It's
been wrote to a modern pop song by Pixie Lott. It's 32 counts, 4 walls
and low intermediate (in my opinion). There's a clever syncopated turn
in the first section that may catch you out at first but after that
you'll find the rest of the more than manageable. The only other thing
you have to remember is the Tag which is similar to some of the steps
in the dance anyway.

EVACUATE THE DANCEFLOOR by CRAIG BENNETT. I had already learnt this
one about a fortnight ago as I love the music and thought if this
dance is going to be anything like Poker Face then I'll definitely
enjoy this one too. The song is by Cascada and the dance is a 64
count, 2 wall, intermediate dance and does have a strong Poker Face
feel to it. It has No tags or restarts which is even better! Could see
this one being very popular on the dance scene.

WATER & A FLAME by DEE MUSK. This was a brand new one to me and
probably everyone else at the event. This is a nice little nightclub
two step with one easy "Tagart" (Tag/Restart) as Dee called it. It's
been wrote to a lovely song by Daniel Merriweather and is worth a look
if you're into the easier style nightclubs. It's 32 counts, 4 walls,
intermediate level.

CUBAN KISS by NIELS POULSEN. This was another one which had been
around a while already and I had seen this danced a social several
weeks ago and to be honest wasn't sure on it at the time. But I
decided I would get up and give it a go as I know dancing some dances
is much different to just watching it. I am pleased to say that I made
the right decision to get up for this one as I did really enjoy it.
It's a well written latin style cha cha. It's a 64 count, 4 wall,
intermediate dance with two straight forward restarts. The song is by
Paul Cless, who you may have heard of (I haven't though) and is very
catchy.

ORANGES AND LEMONS by ROBERT LINDSAY. This was another dance which I
had not heard of yet, so think this was brand new. This is a 32 count,
4 wall, intermediate dance with a little tag at the end of wall 1 and
a couple of Tag/Restarts later on. The dance is quite easy to get your
head around which I think makes it really good because you can then
really start to enjoy the music too. The song is a very bouncy style
song by Jools Holland although I didn't realise it was him at first. I
think this dance is ideal for a typical improver going on intermediate
class as I imagine they would love the music and the dance goes very
well with it.

FOOD CHAIN by SCOTT BLEVINS. I was told this dance was released around
the same time as Coochie Bang Bang which was also taught over the
weekend, and I'm a little bit surprised that it has only just came to
my attention really. This is a Part A (32 counts), Part B (24 Counts)
dance but the sequence of A's and B's is very easy (AA-BB-AA-BB-AA-B*-
A onwards). This one is noticeably easier than Coochie Bang Bang in my
opinion and if you like the music then I think you'll really get a
feel for the attitude and style you can put into this dance.

RUMBA BREEZE by MICHELE PERRON and MICHELE BURTON. This one was taught
by Lizzie Clarke at the end of the Friday workshops. It's a dead easy
Improver level dance which works very well with the music. The pace of
the dance is relaxed, so you've got plenty of time to think about what
you need to do next.

BAILA by PAT STOTT. Unfortunately, I missed the whole teach and dance
for this one as I was involved in the Choreography Competition
elsewhere. But I did get to see it danced later on and thought it
looked like a nice basic, latin, fun type dance. It's a 72 count, low
intermediate, 4 wall dance. The music is catchy and I wished I had had
the chance to learn it properly. If you do have a look at the script,
Pat forgot to put the number 8 on the last Section but it doesn't mean
that there isn't a Count 8.

FOR THE FIRST TIME by NIELS POULSEN. Now this is a dance worth looking
at if you are into your elegant nightclub two steps. When the teach
was being done, I was a little busy catching up with a friend but I
did happen to have a copy of the script with me anyway as this wasn't
a brand new dance. But when I watched it being danced, I knew I had to
learn so I got the script out later on and got my teeth round it (the
paper wasn't great tasting, but the dance is amazing). It's only 32
counts, but it is a high level intermediate dance and is 4 walls. It
has some beautiful steps in but you may find the restarts a little
awkward if you're not 100% sure where you should be facing. I never
thought I would be one to really enjoy a Rob Stewart song but this
track is incredible.

BEAT AGAIN by KATE SALA. This is another new-ish dance. It's to the
song by the same name by JLS which I wasn't keen on before, but now I
can dance to it, it is growing on me. The dance is 64 counts,
intermediate, 4 wall dance. I say 4 wall but it's actually 2 walls but
a restart changes it from the "front/back" to the "sides". The dance
does technically start facing a corner which normally means it sounds
a bit daunting but this dance isn't at all. Could see this one
becoming a popular Kate dance.

COOCHIE BANG BANG by SCOTT BLEVINS. As I mentioned earlier, I had
already learnt this one so this meant I could have a well needed sit
down during the teach of this. This is a high intermediate, 64 count,
4 wall dance. The dance itself is manageable, however the two tags do
really test your ability. They are both 20 counts long (if I'm not
mistaken) but completely different apart from the Chasse at the end of
them. The first tag is dead easy, the second was is harder but this is
only because of the timing, however the timing is there to hit the
music exactly and it works very well. If you like a dance to give you
a run for your money then this is a good one to pick and is already
proved to be popular on the dance scene.

MY ANGEL by KIM RAY. This is what I would call a Kim Ray nightclub.
It's a bit like It's Up To You and Inside Out. It's 32 counts,
intermediate and 4 walls. It has an easy restart which you can hear it
coming along. The music is by Belle Perez but it wasn't until much
later on when I was told that I even realised it was her singing. It
is a really nice piece of music and Kim has wrote a great dance to it.
I wouldn't be surprised if this one becomes popular out and about.

BREAK YOUR HEART by SHAZ WALTON. This is a brilliant dance to a piece
of music which I can't get enough of. I had heard the track a while
ago and was desperately trying to find out what it was called and had
my fingers crossed that someone would write a dance to it so that I
didn't try to do so and probably end up ruining it (hehe!). So as you
can probably imagine, I was elated when I heard I was going to get to
start dancing to it. The only problem we had was that the teach was at
4pm on the Saturday and we were getting pretty tired so it made the
already quite challenging dance that little bit harder. It's a 64
count, 2 wall, high intermediate maybe even advanced dance. From my
point of view it is worth learning just so you can dance to the song
it's wrote to. Shaz has done a great job on this one, so this is good
for your more able dancers.

MAN IN THE MIRROR by CLAIRE PULPHER. This was the dance that won the
overall Choreography Competition and I believe it did deserve to win.
It's a nice not too challenging dance to a well known Michael Jackson
track. It's a 32 count, 4 wall, intermediate dance with one little
restart. What I really liked about this dance was the sense that it
was original. I've never done any of Claire's dances before so I found
it very refreshing to learn a dance by her. The dance starts with a
strong Sweep 1/2 Turn which works well and there is a funny turn in
the middle of the dance which you need to pay careful attention to. I
do hope this dance becomes well recognised as I appreciate what it is
like to be an Unknown Choreographer and I think this is a great dance
that deserves credit.

STROBE LIGHTS by RACHAEL MCENANEY. This was a dance that I had learnt
already, but I hadn't learnt the arm movements yet. Especially not the
one that involves flinging your bracelet across the room. Will have to
get down to Primark so I can join in with that action. This dance is a
funky 64 count, 2 wall, high intermediate dance with no tags or
restarts. Some people may not like the music to this one but I do!!!
As you would expect from Rachael she has wrote a fantastic dance which
may look scary at first but it isn't half as challenging as it may
seem.

WITH YOUR LOVE by DAN MCINERNEY. This was another one I missed because
I was "nattering" but did try to pick it up later on. It's a 32 count,
4 wall, nearly advanced dance with two tags. The music is by Chris
Brown and the dance is what I would call a trendy nightclub. The
majority of the dance is ideally suited to intermediate dances but
there is a few counts towards the end which is actually 3 full turns
in one go so you do need to be thinking when you get to that point.

I LIED by ANDREW and SHEILA (PALMER). Funnily enough, when I arrived I
spoke to a friend from Leeds and they asked me if I had done this
dance, and at the time I hadn't. They said it was a really nice
nightclub style dance that;s worth a look. So I had made a mental note
to look at it when I get home. Well, when I heard it was going to be
taught I was very pleased as it meant it was one less dance to try and
learn from the script. This is wonderful 32 count, 4 wall,
intermediate dance which has two restarts and one "Sway Sway" tag. The
first restart is straight forward, however the second one can make you
a bit wrong footed if you're not ready for it. The music is by Michael
Bolton and you can't help but want to sing along to it.

CAN'T GET INVOLVED by NEVILLE FITZGERALD and JULIE HARRIS. This is
what I would call a Neville type of funky dance, that is that the
dance can be done without any attitude but when you add the attitude
then it looks and feels funky. The dance is a 64 count, 2 wall,
intermediate dance with two easy restarts. When you get to Section 5,
you find that the Bounces are perfect for the dance. The dance on the
whole is a bit like T.O.P which I thought was great so I'll let you
decide what I think of this one.

LOVE ME by ROBBIE MCGOWAN HICKIE. This is another one of Robbie's
dances which I imagine is going to go down a storm. The song is very
catchy and the dance is bouncy and fun. It's a 48 count, 4 wall,
intermediate dance which isn't phrased (but doesn't really need to
be). Although it is 48 counts, with all the & counts in it, it's more
like 148. The dance does work very well with the music and although at
first I didn't like the song. It really has grown on me now and hope
that this one becomes popular out and about as I would like to be able
to keep dancing it.

AMY by KATE SALA. This was another dance which I had already learnt as
I find the song great to listen to it and even better to dance to now.
I would have thought that the song may have caused some offence to
some people as it sounds like Britney Spears is making a very indecent
proposal. The song is called If You Seek Amy which does sound like
something else when you're not paying much attention. Anyway, the
dance. I think Kate has done a great job with this one. There are one
or two bits which you have to jump into a little bit but it does make
the dance a little more interesting so it's by no means a bad point.
The dance is 4 walls, 64 counts and intermediate level. No tags or
restarts, although I think there may be more than one version of the
song so the phrasing may be different on each of them. So if you're a
perfectionist, you'll have to sought out the version of the track
which fits best.

That is all the main dances which were taught although I believe the
two runners up in the choreography competition got the chance to teach
their dances which were; BE ON YOU by JORDAN LLOYD, which is a trendy
nightclub written to a song by Flo Rida and LOVE AGAIN YOUNG AGAIN by
AUDREY BROWN which I've just spotted was wrote nearly 4 years ago.
It's a little happy beginner dance which, as some of the dancers over
the weekend found out, fits to various other songs too.

I would love to pick out my favourite five dances from the weekend but
I find it sooooooo difficult to pick between some of them, so think it
would be better if I didn't.

So last but not least I would like to say a big thank you to all the
people involved in the running of the weekend as I had a great time
and I'm sure everyone else did too. I'd like to thank the DJ's for
providing us with music, the choreographers for providing us with
dances, the performers for providing us with entertainment too and
obviously all the people who work behind the scenes for providing us
with a world class weekend.

Workshop Report - Bristol New Year Bash

Rob taught 3 dances - The highlight for me was a really cool dance Tik Tok Don't Stop, a cool mainstream style dance - Solid intermediate for sure - Really popular & I'd say a good alternative to the more 'Newline' Tik Tok Drop dance by Guyton & Co - High energy jumps & arms !! :-), but not that hard that said - Having seen both I'm planning to do Rob's with my main class & Guyton's with my 'late-bird' Newliners - How's that for sitting on the fence !! :-)

His 2nd was a dance to Broken Heels called I Can Do - This was really well received too - Only a couple in the room had done Jo/John/Mark's Broken Heels which is going well in places I hear & was a really popular teach at Worlds as I've reported - So you'll need to pick one of these !!?? It's a great dance track just as good as Playing With Fire ........ All I can say is that Rob's looked just as good, but I'd already been learning Broken Heels after seeing it at Worlds - and getting feedback that classes around me up north are already doing that one too, so I'll be doing Jo/John/Mark's.

Last but not Rob taught another new one called Baila Morena - A nice cha cha & another popular teach at the end of a busy afternoon of dancing ....................... We danced lots of Rob's dances through the day, but the one that caught my eye was a recent one - A lovely country night club called Love Of My Life (Sammy Kershaw) - Loads up doing this one - I'd not seen it before & it really looked nice ............. On the evening Rob did a quick teach of a fun dance called Devil On The Loose to a classic sounding new track from The Rednex ........ They are a guest band at one of Rob's Spanish weekend events later this year.

I was going to do 2X Trouble but time beat us after the Tik Tok Don't Stop teach - Enough 'funky' stuff for the day !! :-) .......... Instead I did a couple of recaps that turned into mini teaches - Craig's Kinda Busy & Ruben's Regresa - Both really popular - Other than these my main teach was Frank Cooper's hit waltz from Worlds One Love - Nice & easy flowing to an awesome Queen track - Seemed to be well received - I love it !! :-)

Saw a few dances filling the floor that I need to catch up with that looked really good - Most notably Kate & Robbie's Upside Down - Had not really looked at that one - It looked/sounded cool & it really was popular - High on my teach list now !! :-) (Kate & Robbie's Love Ya getting really popular too) ............. I also liked the look of Kath Dickens's San Fransisco - Also Ria's I Need You Now .......... And I must get round to Darren Bailey's Action, it's such a great country track.

Crazy Chris's Balladio really popular too & great to see Chris on the evening to dance it again with everyone.

Looking forward to next year with guest choreographers Peter & Alison.

A big thanks to everyone who came to dance at our Alamo weekend in Scarborough - We had such a fun weekend, with many regulars & this year, a group too from our new Arizona Linedancing Club in Morpeth/Gosforth which made it special for us - One of the best ever for us all in all - And our good friends Dee, Andrew & Sheila did us proud with awesome company, awesome work ........ And awesome dances .............

For those looking for some easy party fun check out A&S's Running Out Of Beer - Just a 16 count Improver - Catchy track & great fun - We did it in a 5min teach on Friday evening & had fun with it all weekend after that .............. Dee's Improver contribution was the smooth/cool Reggae dance Mi Rowsu, which was a popular teach at the Awards & went really well too to open up the day on Saturday ............ A&S had another catchy swing style Easy Intermediate one for Sunday morning called Take It Outside - Great track - And Andrew also taught Rachael's Rhyme Or Reason, a really nice country two step.

Three great Intermediate dances too - From A&S a great 64/2 pop one Way Love Goes (Lemar) - From Dee Open Up Your Heart (Kim Sozzi - A 'Release Me' sort of dance) - And Baby Baby Bay (Justin Bieber - A catchy cha cha - Awesome track) - Also check out Shaz's dance Baby to this track - An Improver floor-split for this one (I'm doing this one too with my Beginner/Improver classes).

On Saturday morning before the official start I did a quick teach of Rachael's lovely night club Stupid In Love for the few early-birds around at 10am - Then a few more joined in for P&A's cool new funky/pop one Parachute - And then a few more for one of my current favourites One Love, Frank Coopers lovely waltz, which I'd been asked to recap - All well received ......... Then after the main session for some die-hard late-birds I did Rob's latest - A really cool funky one called Get On Down - This was a huge hit at Liverpool & the guys at Scarborough loved it too - Because it's quite a hard one we also left Dee's new Night Club One Day You Will for the late-bird slot - Still around 40 of the 90 dancers around for this one & another big hit as it was at the Awards - My class loved it & it's a 'must-teach' one for me this week, probably at both classes.

My problem now is that I still want to do Simon/Jo/John's great new pop cha cha I Want That Man that Simon taught at Liverpool - Also Guyton's Tic Tok Drop that was a hit teach there too & at Worlds - And also from Worlds Johanna's Faith & Desire & Dan's Holdin' It Down which are great dances - Also Shaz's Meet Me Halfway (Although we are enjoying Do U Remember) ......... And now Shaz has two new ones out too !!!!!! ......... And then there's Rappers Delight !!!! :-) .............. And all of these new ones too - Honestly - I'm not just saying that, A&S & Dee's new ones really are all cool - And asking around my class at the event all of them got mentioned by someone !!!! :-)

So what's new from the DJ Booth from Scarborough ...... Well most notable was how quick Craig's Wild & Robbie/Kate's Love Ya have become a floor-fillers - Here's the 'Current' Top 10 of the weekend as voted by the dancers :

-Pot Of Gold

-Just For Grins

-T Bone Shuffle

-Islands In The Sream

-We're Alive

-Feet Don't Fail Me Now

-Hideaway Cha

-Not Like That

................We danced loads of others too - She Believes was especially popular still

We also had some Beginner/Improvers with & the most popular dances for them which many others joined in too were :

-Little Red Book

-Peaches & Cream

-Broken Stones

-Chica Boom Boom

-Cool Chick

-Action

-Tennessee Waltz Surprise (I did a speed teach of this one on Friday evening)

.................Cassics too like Ribbon Of Highway, Cruisin', DHSS, Black Coffee, Tush Push, Rio etc.......

Personally speaking I enjoyed dancing some of my latest favourites socially for the first time (Outside of class I mean) - Including No Salvation (Much easier when you are sober !!), One Love, Regresa, Sunglasses, Stomp & Kick & Stuff You Gotta Watch.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at our next Alamo weekend in Torquay with Andrew/Sheila & Craig.

The class are also looking forward to seeing Andrew & Sheila at our next Sunday-Out at Choppington on 2nd May - Before that if all goes to plan it will be lovely to see Dee come out to play at our MaggieG day there on Saturday 27th March - Still a few tickets left for that one.

See you at Brean this weekend if you are going - Looking forward to the event - But not the 8 hour drive in the van !! :-(

PS. If you see Andrew or Dee on your travels ask then about 'The Weakest Link' - And ask Sheila about her Good Ole Days frock !! :-) .............. I was quite proud of my Wheeltappers Colin Crompton impersonation too - It got easier the drunker I got "Order Order" !!!! :-) ............... The Committeeeeeeeee ..............

From the DJ Booth !! ........

From Linedancer Crystal Boot Awards .........

It's hard work enjoying yourself sometimes !!! :-) - It was hard work at the Awards (It would be easier if I went to bed at a sensible time & drank less I admit !!), but as ever it was a fun & enjoyable weekend not to be missed - Great to catch up with everyone & to be part of such a special event - Well done to all the winners, but for us it was extra special this year that our good friend Craig got his first Awards for Rising Star & Advanced Dance ..... And he keeps his ball rolling with the most popular teach of the weekend 'Wild'.

When you DJ such an event you get such a good window on the hot up coming dancers from around the UK & Europe - The ones that struck me as popular dances on the up (Based on requests & numbers) included Broken Heels, You & I, Love Ya, BCO, Hands Up, Upside Down, Mambotastic, What About, Dream Of You, Nitty Gritty, All I Want Is You, San Fransisco, Action, Wishing On A Star & Askin' Questions ...... Just a few that seem to be on the up ......... Also the funky Tic Tok Drop from Guyton & Co - And Shaz's Meet Me Halfway/Pop Lock & Drop.

The floor fillers were obvious - Dances that got played a good few times by popular request & apologies to those that thought too many times !!! :-) ...... Including Playing With Fire, Jesse James, Sister Kate, Why Don't We Just Dance, NY Cha, Speak With Your Heart, Coochie Bang Bang, Can't Get Involved, Toes, It Hurts, In Control, J Ho Holding On To Yesterday, Life Without U, Roomba, Go Mama Go, Ay Amor, Louisiana Swing, Mexicali, Release Me, Whiter Than White, Amame, Time To Swing, Moonlight Kiss, Just Dance Away etc. etc. - No spot prizes for these - All obvious & great stuff. along with many others, including a boat load of classic golden oldies over the weekend.

The Awards workshops were my inspiration for the classes this week - Did Kate's Stomp & Kick with both classes (Love the beat & the styling - Like a Big Sister Kate) - Also Craig's Wild on Wednesday - And I'll do it next Tuesday too - Think everyone has been teaching Wild this week !! :-) ...... Everyone enjoyed both these dances at the classes, which were both big hit teaches at the Awards ....... My Tuesday class also enjoying Maggie's Walking In The Rain - Catchy & nice - This was also a hit for Maggie at the weekend on Friday evening & whilst it's nice & easy it has enough about it for the seasoned dancers to join in too - I taught it as a bridge between the classes & everyone seemed to enjoy .......... All Together Again (Rick Guard) was also a nice easy one from Robert Lindsay, another teach from the Awards Friday evening Beginner/Improver room social hosted by Val - It flows really well to a classic track ideal for beginners & it was really well received by my beginners on Tuesday - Feel good dancing.

On Tuesday as well as Stomp & Kick we had a go at Moonlight Madness, a lovely smooth 'Come Tomorrow' sort of dance with a 1&a2-3-4 beat - Really cool - We'll do Wild next week & I still want to do Stuff You Gotta Watch too with the Tuesday gang ................ And on Wednesday the late-birds really enjoyed Scott's latest No Salvation - Hits the beat just spot on with great style - Next week we're going to do Meet Me Halfway & recap Do U Remember/Happy Hour - A Shaz hour !! :-)

Comments on some of the other Awards Workshop dances ........................

-As well as All Together Again, Daniel Trepat also taught a beginner called Mi Rowsu which was very popular - And many have mentioned it to me since, a light Reggae rumba - Going to try this one soon myself

-Robbie's was an Improver called Feel Right - A classic country East Coast Swing which got good feedback

-Guyton's Blah Blah Blah was a funky one well received that I'll be trying - Guyton was hampered a little because he had to use the Glenn Rogers cover of it at the event because the Kesha version was not suitable, but it's a cool dance - Too the Kesha track

-C U Again was the choreography competition winner taught on the Friday night - Asked for over the weekend & when I played it on Sunday evening a good crowd up doing it - A neat beaty Miley Cyrus pop mix

-Americano was Simon's hit teach a phrased fast swing dance in the style of Swingin' R's - A bit of a showcase/routine of a dance that was played many times - Just got to get down to learning it - This week efforts were on Scott's No Salvation !!!! :-) ....... I'll get up & learn it at Beatlefest.

-Rachael taught a really cool one called Little Red Corvette which was a hit it Worlds - I've already taught this one just before the holidays - Need to recap it with the classes - Hope it takes off - Nice dance

-Dee's One Day You Will was a hit in the 'Advanced' workshops - A lovely cool country night club which loads danced in the main room on Sunday evening (Looking forward to Dee teaching that one at our Scarborough weekend)

-Likewise Alan's Thank You (Seal) - Looked like a classic 'Alan' attitude dance - A great funky/cool West Coast beat - Another that caught my eye too from the DJ booth ............. Well done to Alan for Human Dancer too, what a great winner for Intermediate Dance of the Year - It's been around a while & the danger that it would be forgotten for something newer, but great to see that the voters had good memories of a great dance !! :-)

From Nashville Worlds 2010 .........

Loved the year in Orlando, but really glad to be back at Nashville, the home of the UCWDC World Championships - For me DJing on the social dancing & workshop side of the event ..................

On the social side a wide mix from beginner thru advanced dances - As ever the Worlds Newsletter Survey sums it up well for the States in particular - Popular dances are the Top 4 in that list for sure - Playing With Fire, Stuff You Gotta Watch, Jesse James & Rain Against My Window - Jo/John/Mark's Hell If I notably very popular too, as is Jo's Shoes Of Another Man, Paul's Multiply & Michael's Fiona - Also Zac's Swing-N-Cha & Francien's Beautiful Tena out of Tampa weekend ............ On the beginner side Ira's Cumbia gets them up - Also Seduced, Cool Chick, Chica Boom Boom & Broken Stones - By the way I saw a dance for the first time called Cleveland Shuffle - A beginner funky fun dance - It's a really catchy track & everyone was having so much fun - Especially me watching it !! :-) Must give this one a try when I get back ................ Joanne taught Me & Bobby which was very popular.

Just a note that the workshops have a few classics being re-visited here - A good idea - Maybe you too want to join in again with Once Upon A December, Funky Cha Cha, Do Your Thing, Cold Blooded & Dixie Lullaby.

A final thought from me on the choreographers - You'll know some take that extra mile to dance & socialise with the dancers during the event as well as their workshops - It's great as a dancer to dance with them their dances new & old - And as a DJ too it's a great to support & work off them when they are around in the room - I'd just like to applaud & give much appreciation to those that are working non-stop to give the dancers a good time - High fives to Dan, Frank, Joanne, Junior, Jo/John, Scott, Guyton & Ruben - And an extra special shout to Rachael, JohnR, Amy & Zac who seem to have never stopped between working/competing/dancing/teaching/socialising ..... Also all the guest instructors who are always dancing & available for everyone too like Nigel, Dean, Rona, Aggie & Mona - These guys bring guaranteed hit dances to share & are just as much at the heart of the event as the big name choreographers.

Whilst I was sitting contemplating the weeks dances rolling in all the feedback (& recovering from my Margarita induced hang-over) I jotted down a possible Top 3 for each day ................

Tuesday - 2X Trouble, ICU & So Sexxy

Wednesday - Regresa, Sunglasses & Follow Me

Thursday - Moonlight Madness, I Gotta Feeling & Sentimental

Friday - Faith & Desire, 649 & Tik Tok Drop

Saturday - Holdin' It Down, Little Red Corvette (Rachael) & Seduced

Saw Scott's No Salvation for the first time properly on Saturday evening - The dance hits the beat spot on & looks like a classic in the making to me - It's hard though & not many have mastered it yet - Once we have I suspect we'll look back & vote it one of the mega hits from 2010 Worlds - All the above a in the running too - And more !! :-)

From Tampa .........

Had a great time at Tampa - As ever a special time meeting all our US friends - And a big well done to Arline, Jen & the team for a lovely weekend - I'm very proud to be involved in this event & a big thanks to our dear friend Arline for that ........... And this year it was so special to go with MaggieG, who had a great time too ...... Some feedback from me from the Dance 'Lobby' where I spent the weekend looking after the workshops in that area & social dancing on the Friday & Saturday evening ............... So a view from the 'Lobby'' !! :-) ..............

Just seen the latest World Newsletter with Playing With Fire the new No.1 - And that is a reflection of what seemed to be the most popular dance teach at Tampa in the Lobby at least - Another from Craig too is Hands Up, which also went well & filled the floor - A nice easy cool dance - I taught this at out Sunday-Out workshop yesterday & it was equally popular - Likewise Evacuate The Dancefloor ............... Looking down Carol's survey, I also see a bunch of other cool dances that we all really popular teaches - Michael Barr's Rain Against My Window & Fiona were really big hits - Great cool stuff from Michael - Another equally popular one taught by Marolyn was Jo's Shoes Of Another Man which is another hot US dance of the moment for sure - Also John Robinson's teach of Michele Perron's Stuff You Gotta Watch which is going really well ........... Other popular instructor teaches were Marilyn with Carole & Frank's dance Swing My Way & Sandy with Shaz's funky Pop, Lock & Drop .................. All great dances to check out for sure - Most of which you'll have already heard mention off & I bet well on the way to filling the floor by the time we get to Worlds ........... I must say a big thanks to Carol's Survey - It really did as ever help this Brit DJ know what to play in the US !! :-)

It was great to see Francien & she did the event proud, as did Niels last year - 5 great new dances written especially for the event - And talking with the dancers someone had good things to say about every one of them - In the Lobby though the most popular seemed to be Sandcastle Disco, a neat looking mainstream pop dance ...... Also a big crowd asked for the beaty Cha Cha En La Luna - And personally I loved the track for Hypnotized which looked really good & on my teach list - If you liked So Glamorous check this one out - Folk took the opportunity to dance many of Francien's hits with her - In the Lobby So Glamorous & Make My Day were much requested - But also Back It Up & Hit The Lights which looked really nice dances that I've not done myself - Francien is coming over to do an event in June with Niels & Rep at Newcastle which we are really looking forward too - Our annual 'Just Dance' weekend !! :-)

It was great to go this year with Maggie - And we really did have a great time - Maggie's first US visit for many years - We danced lots of Maggie G dances - Most popular in the Lobby was Life Without U no surprise, but others included hits like Guardian Angel, Headphones, Show Me Yours, Moonlight Kiss, Love Love Love, The Reel Thing & Gimme A Chance - I know they did loads more too in the ballroom with Maggie over the weekend - As for the teaches, Jig It Up seemed to be the biggest hit, with many repeat requests too for the lovely new night club What About & my own current favourites Sexy Chick, All I Want Is You & Just Dance Away - We danced all these yesterday - All big hits & I especially noticed how Just Dance Away is now starting to be an especially popular floor-filler - Hopefully Sexy Chick, All I Want Is You & What About to follow - I need to learn/teach What About next.

Maurice was on top form in the Lobby with a teach of the hit night club Mad World, tricky but really cool & already popular with many - A classic 'Feel' style dance - At the other end of the scale he also taught a really neat funky beginner dance called 3-D - Check this out if you have some young funky beginners - And the more intermediate dances can work on adding the styling to make it just as cool/fun - Looking forward to welcoming Maurice to Leeds Newline with Scott & Rachael next September.

Also in the Lobby we had the lovely Amy Christian for a few workshops over the weekend, whose most popular teach seemed to be Let's Bachata, a neat & smooth Samba/Rumba style dance - Likewise Brit exile Rob Glover, now working/living & doing well in Boston with a Dance Studio - Rob's eye catcher for me was a really nice dance called Little Red Corvette to a class 'wanna dance' track - Check this one out - Rob also did a good job hosting the Review sessions.

Mark & Glen shared the two funky pro-choreography dances from Chicago, Break The Dawn & Booty Music over the weekend - Two popular funky/pop ones - They also taught Jo/John/Mark's Bad Influence, already a floor-filler, but still a full floor in the Lobby catching up with this hit  - Another of their dances much requested was Hell If I, a well discovered dance promoted by Scott over the last few months at events, including Tampa - He introduced it to us too here in the UK at a workshop with us after World Masters back in August & me & the class just love it, wish I'd spotted it myself much sooner - Looking forward to working with Jo & John in April where they are Maggie G's guest choreographers in Mundesley in April.

In the Lobby Can't Get Involved was the most requested Neville/Julie dance - They also taught Straight Thru & there latest U Got It All - Classic Neville/Julie dances which I know were well received & danced in the main ballroom - Why So Serious was a Sunday teach, another cool dance which has been a hit with my class here in the UK ......... For me Straight Thru is the one to check out for a cool pop dance if you need to pick one - We recapped it yesterday at our workshop & it's a big hit here up north in the UK.

All the Junior fans & his teaches were in the main ballroom so I did not get to see his latest (Although we did tempt him into the Lobby a few times with the 'Vodka Babies' & Brit chocs !! :-) ) ............ But good feedback especially on Battlefield, a really cool nightclub from the nightclub king.

Ria's Sister Kate was mega popular too - More so after a teach by Kathy G - And her lovely cha cha Ay Amor is getting really popular too - Both these were floor-filler dances in social dancing at our Sunday-Out too - Ay Amor in particular is becoming a really popular one here in the UK too.

Dan's Let's Get Saved was a big hit in the Lobby, played it a few times & quite a few also did his latest hit Must Get Free, a huge hit here in the UK on the Newline scene - Check this one out at Worlds in January where Dan has been invited too teach - Looking forward to Worlds, which has another great choreographer line-up - I'm teaching too !! :-) .......... It was great to see Bracken & a bunch danced her lovely waltz Forgiveness, which is a big favourite of mine - I really enjoy Say Hey Love too, which I'm sure would have been a big hit in the Beginner room with Olivia - That room was buzzing all weekend - It's a great idea to have a room dedicated to Beginner/Improver stuff & to see it so well supported - Lots of great dances taught in there too by choreographers/instructors including Bracken (Incl. Gary's Sin City Swing), Viv Scott (Incl. Andrew/Sheila/Viv's Do That Again), Rosie Multari (Incl. Larry's Swingin' In The Rain), Arline (Incl. Niels's Baby Kate) & Ferrel Mazzato (Incl. Dee's Broken Stones).

In social dancing the most requested dances other than those already mentioned included Jesse James, Coochie Bang Bang, Mojo Rhythm, Whiter Than White, Poker Face, Roomba, Senseless Cha, Spotlight, Tango Cha, Toes, For The First Time, Beautiful, Ay Amor, J Ho, Knowing (Bryan's lovely new night club - Looked great) to name but a few ...................... Robbie's classic Not Like That was still a huge hit floor-filler too - Other long time classics too of course.

Most of the real action for this weekend was with Louie in the main ballroom which I know was a buzz all weekend, but from the feedback I had, I'm sure that the action in the 'Lobby' reflected the overall event well - Just on a much bigger scale !! :-) .......... I had a great weekend & thanks to all who came to dance with me.

Looking forward to being back next year for a mega big party weekend - It will be Arline's last year & it will be extra special I'm sure - If you've not been have a look at this one for 2010 - And just the best place to build your visit around a vacation before/after as many do.

Worlds next in Nashville in January - Looking forward to that - Hope to see you there - If you are tempted it's a great dancing week - Just drop me an email if you want to know more about it, especially you Brits - We really do have a blast.

Did all the obvious things new & old in the main social dancing sessions - Beginner/Improver hits included My New Life, Little Red Book, Peaches & Cream, Toes, Cool Chick, Speak With Your Heart, Rio & Crazy Foot Mambo - Mainstream floor-fillers included Tango Cha, Nimby, Guantanamera, Boyfriend, Just For Grins, Holding On To Yesterday, MOJO, Life Without U, Poker Face, Human Dancer, Sister Kate, Cranky, What Do You See, It Hurts, I Promise You, Moonlight Kiss, Evacuate The Dance Floor, In Control, Pot of Gold, Somebody Like You, Whiter Than White & Release Me - And Newline type favourites included Have Fun Go Mad, Addicted, Can't Get Involved, Beautiful, Feel, Coochie, Jesse James & Painted Windows ..................... In the official break 5.30-7.30pm we carried on with some cool stuff too, notably Shaz's Magic/The Climb/Juvanile, Guyton's Miami, Robbie's Scooby Doo/Love Me/Antidote, Neville/Julie's Because/No Need To Rush, Maggie's Love Love Love/Headphones/Guardian Angel - A bunch of classics like Swamp Thang, Reggae Cowboy, Who Did You Call Darlin', Hot Tomales & Heartbreak Express - And more current ones too including Not Fair, Single Girl Swag & Run ............ So many requests but hopefully you get the idea - It was a great mix of dancers.

Big thanks to all Craig's local helpers - His family, friends & club - As ever is the case anywhere you go there was a crowd of great people supporting Craig with all the organisation all day - And a big thanks too to Alan, Pat, Shaz, Daniel & Andrew for supporting the event free gratis for a great cause - Ronald McDonald's House Charity - Over £3,000 - That's awesome for just a days dancing :-) .............. Same again next September

From World Masters, Blackpool .........

You've seen Ross's detailed review of all the dances so I'll not repeat all that detail - And you'll see what I liked personally as I tackle them over the next few weeks & report back in my weekly reviews !! :-) but I'll stick my neck out & give you three popular dances per day based on repeat request feedback :

Friday :

-Craig's funky Evacuate The Dancefloor (M/N), Dee's night club Water & A Flame (M/N) & Scott's Food Chain (N)

.....Have a look at Robert's Oranges & Lemons (M) which is a really nice Jools Holland track ........ Niels's Cuban Kiss (M/N) a cool latin cha cha .......... Rob's Mamma Do (M) which you'll know about ........ And a nice smooth one from Michele Perron called Rumba Breeze (M) taught by Lizzie

Saturday :

-Niels's lovely Rod Stewart night club For The First Time (M/N), Kim's smooth night club My Angel (M/N) & Claire's Michael Jackson cha cha Man In The Mirror (M/N - Winner of the Choreography Competition)

.....Scott did Coochie Bang Bang (M/N) which is already a huge swing hit, Pat a cool Latin/Spanish cha cha called Baila (M), Kate a great JLS pop one Beat Again (M) & Shaz a tricky Taio Cruz funky one called Break Your Heart (N)

Sunday :

-Rachael's funky Strobe Lights (N), Robbie's pop two-step/swing one Love Me (M) & Neville/Julie's Can't Get Involved (M/N)

.....Andrew did a lovely Michael Bolton night club I Lied (M/N), Kate a Britney one called Amy (M/N) & Dan his cool Chris Brown night club With Your Love (N) ........... Before we started up the evening session by request Jordan taught the winner of the Advanced Choreography to a big crown - A funky night club called Be On You (N)

I really do think they are all worth looking at for the appropriate crowd - Just to help you home in on what might be right for you I've put an (M) after the Mainstream ones, an (N) after the Newline ones - And (M/N) after those that should appeal to all just as a guide - Looking back there were no Beginner/Improver/Easy ones - Something we will look to cover more/better next year - The winner of the Beginner Choreography was a hit though, Audrey Brown's Love Again, Young Again - A really nice looking dance to a feel good catchy track.

On the social dancing side in the Spanish Room some of the most popular requests for current dances during the day in between the workshops were the likes of Whiter Than White, Jesse James, Senseless Cha, Roomba, Hush Hush, Because, Isolated, Addicted, Gone Away, Painted Windows, Magic, Beautiful, TOP, Loosen Up, Broken Glass, Feel, Cranky, Do The Hoedown, Honey, It's Goin' Round Round, Miami, Too Close For Comfort, Scooby Doo, The Climb, Ease On Down, Under A Spell, Emelda's Man, Thrill Chasin', Thank You, Ay Amor & Purple Rain - We did lots of classics too - I'll not bore you with all them - All the obvious ones & more !! :-)

Down in the main ballroom on the evenings as ever you add into the mix the competition dancers, who like to dance/practice their current competition dances - With a young crowd as ever the most popular ones were the funky ones - This year dances like Four Minutes, Fuego, Bring It, Blood Money, Jazz It Up & Get On The Bus were most requested - But also some smooth competition ones that filled the floor with social dancers too - Notably Wonderful & Deeply Completely - Crazy Foot Mambo too.

On the social side as ever we did a mix of everything new & old - I had enough requests to keep playing for a week from the diverse 1,000plus crowd - Tried to keep it mixed dancing to around 2.00pm on the Friday, 3.00pm on the Saturday & 1.00pm on the Sunday .... In the hotel next year it can & will be later !! :-)

As well as the ones I've mentioned during the day in the Spanish Room, popular dances often came straight from the Linedancer Charts which are always a good signal of the floor-fillers in the UK I find - Dances like Poker Face, Life Without U, Mojo Rhythm, Toes, Bad Influence, La Secret, J Ho, Go Mama Go, Time To Swing, In Control, Release Me, Sister Kate, Holding On To Yesterday, Run, Boyfriend Of The Year, Guantanamera, Tango Cha, Insomnia, Human Dancer, Moonlight Kiss, It Hurts, Amame, Applebottom Jeans, JR Drop, Booo-Tay, Miss California etc. etc ................. The classics at such events remain the competition dancer favourites like Keep Up Don't Loose Your Breath, Swing Your Chains, Swinging R's, Have Fun Go Mad, Hideaway Cha, Now Or Never, MJ Moves, Let 'r Rip  ...... And as well as all the obvious social ones (From Just For Grins thru to Pot Of Gold & everything in between - You know), many old MIL team classics still lead the way - The likes of Stop It, Inside Your Heaven, Poetry In Motion, Cry To Me, Faded, SXE, Let Me Love You, Time To Ride, Guilty, Am To Pm .... Scott is a Worlds regular too & we did many of his classic dances over the weekend.

I'd just like to repeat a big personal thanks to all the choreographers who were with us in the Spanish Room all weekend - I really enjoyed all the new dances & working with everyone - Special thanks to Dee/Haley, Shaz/Glen & Clive/Lynn/Jordan, who helped Pauline & I with the room non-stop all weekend - To my DJ buddies Andrew & Russ who helped share the DJ duties over the weekend - And great to see all the regular dancers from all over the UK & Europe - The Spanish Room will be a big miss next year but looking forward to doing it in an awesome Manchester hotel setting next year instead - A week earlier - 6th-8th August 2010 - Check out the MIL web-site & book early I'd say because the capacity is down on the Winter Gardens & it is sure to get full well before the event.

PS. We had fun being The Pussycat Dolls in the show - As ever you had to be there !!! :-) Apart from the 'Dolls' (Me, Dee, Shaz, Lizzie & Robert) it was a class show as ever from the MIL team on the Saturday - And on the Friday some cool West Coast Swing routines from some of the best in the business ....... The Swing Room at Masters is increasing in popularity year by year - The room was always full - Must have been c200 Swing Dancers at the event in the Swing Room - Maybe c300 Social Line Dancers in the Spanish Room - So a great atmosphere all weekend when you mix in maybe c800 competitors/supporters - Just unofficially guessing at the numbers to give you a feel for it ....................... Looking forward to the next 'mega' event in the UK which is the Linedancer Awards at the end of January - That one will be c1,000 social dancers.

From Holland - Roy's Bootcamp .........

Last weekend we were bowled over by the hospitality & friendship of everyone in Denmark - And a lovely cool, fun, informal event with great new dances in a great venue in a lovely country - It was exactly the same this weekend in Holland with Roy & The Millhiil Rebels - And the all the Dutch gang - Dee, Robbie & myself had a blast - And thanks to everyone for the welcome & hospitality - For me it was great to meet so many of the gang we see at Maggie G's Southport weekend - And our good friends Daniel, Jose, Ray, Wil & Ria - Great too to meet up again with DJ Alex too & work alongside him over the weekend.

More cool new dances too ...................... Last weekend was Newline - This week mainly great Improver/Intermediare mainstream dances, so check these out :-) .....................
