My weekly 'Dances Taught' Update .........
With the beginners I went over Frank's Better & Better, his Awards teach that the class enjoyed last week with Frank - I'll catch up on his nice fun swing one Holler Oh Babe next week which he did at our Big Easy day in South Shields too to get the Mardi-Gras party night swinging :-) - Also have a lovely smooth Everything Cha (Elvis) which was also a hit teach that day & at Jean's in Blackpool too - We had a great week with Frank & a lovely fun day at our 'Big Easy' on Saturday with Frank, Dee & Shaz. Other Beginner favourites just now include I Saw Linda Yesterday - Love this one - Also No Smoke, Everytime Baby & A Place In The Sun all going really well.
Another from Frank with the Improvers this week which everyone enjoyed at Shields, his lovely Love Letters Waltz, one Jean's been doing for a while & complemented as a potential long lasting Waltz Across Texas type dance & everyone did really enjoy it - A great Elton John track :-) Others going really well most recently include London Rhythm Swings, which was great to see taught at the Awards so we could dance it with The Jive Aces - Also The Wanderer, a huge floor-filler & P&A's First Up which I taught at Shields - We also did a quick recap of Midnight Mix this week - Need to do the same for Rachael's Purr Kitty & Ira's Caballero next week - Another nice new one I want to do is Dee's other Big Easy new release teach Keep Me In Mind, great country from the Zac Brown Band - Check that one out.
I started the Easy-Intermediate session with Dee's lovely Rod Stewart cha Have You Ever Seen The Rain, a lovely dance that was another hit teach at Shields, much like Robert's More Than A Friend has been recently too - Current hits include Ready Steady Go, Hi-A-Ma Cha, Without Fire & Ria's catchy Two Step Double U Double D - We also recapped Frank's cool West Coast Drinkin' Wine which he taught us last week :-) Kiss The Stars next week I'm thinking.
Into the Intermediates the class really enjoyed Kate's catchy Stuck this week & we also recapped The Rush - Robbie's The Same Star next week - And we need to go back over One More Night too - Mr. Wonderful & Rock Your Body too. The Tuesday late-birds are currently enjoying Had A Bad Day & Da Dance, so much so that we've actually being doing them as part of the main session - Thinking of doing Chariz with them next week which is a big hit with the Wednesday class.
Wednesday is a solid intermediate gang but I started with two especially cool dances from our Saturday 'Big Easy' day, Dee's Have You Seen The Rain - A nice easy one that I think will be really popular like Blue Night Cha & worth knowing for easy social dancing everywhere - And another cool/slow/easy cha from Shaz appropriately called Play It Cool :-) to a neat Overtones track - Both dances Improver boardering Easy-Intermediate. Next week we need to go over Hi-A-Ma Cha, Drinkin' Wine & One More Midnight again.
Stuck was a big hit Tuesday so I went with that one again - And also Neville & Julie's catchy Pixie Lott mainstream one Kiss The Stars, a great pop beat that flows easy & well, much in the style of Without Fire, which is a big hit just now too - Our main recaps Craig's Da Dance, Rachael's Had A Bad Day, N&J's Chariz, Niels's What Are Words & Ria's Bring Me To Life are all going really well too - Next week we need to go over Live This Life & Me Without You again & the new one will be one or more of P&A's & A&S's from Scarborough I'm sure :-)
No late-birds as such this week as time & energy got the better of us but next week I want to recap current hits Boomerang, Meet Me At The Alar, Hurts Me So & Hotstepper before we move on with some new ones !!??
So off to Scarborough this weekend at the Clifton with Andrew & Sheila & our guest choreographers this year Peter & Alison - A chill night there tonight first - After I've done a power walk around to the bay & back :-) Looking forward to seeing P&A's new dances - Been holding off doing those knowing we have this weekend coming up & many of the class coming to it - Cya there if you are coming :-)
